Wag Hill is a boutique eco-friendly lodge located in the southern shore of Lake Victoria, which is 30 minute-drive from Mwanza town. It’s set on the tip a peninsula jutting out into the Mwanza Gulf boasting more than a kilometer of protected waterfront. The lodge has two natural harbors which have become breeding grounds for some of the largest Tilapia in the world.
Our vistas are unique and breathtaking. The area is surrounded by gently rolling, lush green hills and breathtaking granite rock structures that appear to defy gravity.Undoubtedly, we are among very few lodges in Tanzania with such a magnificent location, Wag Hill Lodge is the perfect way to complete a safari.
Wag Hill Lodge & Spa is designed and maintained with the lowest possible impact on the environment in mind. We strive to constantly improve and evolve, and our dream is to engage travelers in environmental protection and in wildlife preservation.
We are working on creating participatory community activities that deepen our partnership with both guests and community, share knowledge and experiences, and lessens our impact on the environment.
It’s important to us to support our community. We buy locally made products and fresh produce such as fruits and eggs from the neighboring Luchelele Village. Our plans for our own farm and greenhouses are under way as well. The fresh fish served at the lodge are delivered daily by local fishermen and we recruit staff from the village, contributing towards promoting and enhancing income-generating opportunities within the community.
Plastic bottles are collected and sold for recycling. The money is shared among staff, providing them with an extra income while demonstrating the importance and benefits of environmental protection.
